You can use YouTube to advertise yourself and your websites.
And it's all FREE.

It's a very powerful tool and can be very effective if you put some thought and effort in your videos.

Creating videos is not as difficult as you think! YouTube has some very good training videos to get you on a quick start. You can check it out at the YouTube Help center HERE.

You can harness the power of YouTube to broadcast yourself and your websites. To propel your videos to the front page of YouTube, here are a few tips to get started:

1. Give your videos interesting and sensational titles - most people love them.

2. Tag your videos as video responses to the current most favorite videos. This will increase your eyeballing rate as people who are viewing the current hot videos will also notice your video response.

3. Use keyword tags in your videos that are constantly being searched on - comedy, humor, horror, scary, soccer, cars etc...regardless of whether they are really relevant to your videos. This will increase the eyeballing rate and the viewers can then decide if they want to see your videos or not. At the least, your videos get the exposure!

4. Be creative. For example, add contrasting music to your videos. If your video is happy, use a sad music and vice versa. This will increase the viewable factor of your video.

5. Always put your website's URL at the very start of the description of your video so that it is highly visible and induces clicks to your website.

There's a lot more to explore, and more features are always in the works.

YouTube resizes your videos to 320x240 pixels, encodes them to Flash 7 at a data rate of approximately 250 kbps and compresses audio to mp3 (22.050 KHz, monophonic).

It's very important that you keep an aspect ratio of 4:3, otherwise the quality of your video will be degraded. Flash 7 codec performs best when the frame width and height use multiples of 16. This is optimal for video playback.

YouTube (newest) recommended settings are:

   * MPEG4 (DivX, Xvid) format
    * 640x480 resolution
    * 64k Mono or 128k Stereo MP3 audio
    * 30 frames per second

How do I upload a video?

Once you’ve finished editing your video, made sure it's less than 10 minutes, smaller than 100MB, and in an acceptable format, you're ready to upload it.

   1. Click "Upload Videos" in the upper-right-hand corner of any YouTube page.

   2. Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description,
       Tags, and Category. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find
       your video!

   3. Determine if you want your video set to Public or Private.

   4. Click the "Upload a Video" button.

   5. In the next window, click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file.
       Select the file you want to upload.

   6. Click the "Upload Video" button.

It can take from a couple minutes to an hour for your video to upload to YouTube.

If you're receiving an error with your Upload, you might want to make sure you're attempting to upload a file that's recognized by YouTube. YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras and camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG file formats.

Have more than one video file to upload? Have a file that's larger than 100MB?

How do I add a video to my blog or web page?

   1. You'll need to edit the HTML of your blog entry or page—this should be relatively straightforward. In Blogger, for example, just click the "Edit HTML" tab.

   2. Next, go to the video that you want, and look for the 'Embed' box in the "About This Video" section. Copying the HTML code that's there into your website will create an embedded player; the video will play within your site when the user clicks on the 'Play' button.

   3. You can resize the player by editing the object width="425" and height="350" fields at both the beginning and end of the embedded player code. Make sure that the sizes you choose have the same ratio as the default numbers, so that the video doesn't get stretched—just multiply the width by 0.8235 to get the height.

How long will my video take to upload?

Depending on your connection speed and the size of the video, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a video. Generally, if you have a high-speed Internet connection you can expect the upload to take somewhere between 1-5 minutes for every 1MB. However, the experience is different for every user because of the variation in connection speeds.

How long does it take to process a video after it's been uploaded?

Processing time varies greatly depending on the format of your original video, file size, and upload traffic. This could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.

If after 8 hours you still see a status message next to the video saying "Uploaded (processing, please wait)," try removing the video from our site and uploading it again. To do this, simply click the "Remove Video" button below the video in question in "My Videos" and go through the full upload process again.

Make sure your video is under 10 minutes in length. We accept most video file formats, including .wmv, .mov, .mpg, or .avi. If your video meets these minimum requirements and still won't upload, there may be a problem with the video compression you're using. We recommend the MPEG4 format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio.
